AVNET MEMEC — SILICA TO DISTRIBUTE ALLIANCE MEMORY SOLUTIONS IN EMEA REGION
Avnet Memec — Silica and Alliance Memory announced on January 7 that Avnet will now be distributing Alliance Memory’s entire line-up of SRAMs and DRAMs throughout the EMEA region.
“To eliminate costly redesigns, there is a high demand across the world for legacy memory solutions, especially DRAMs,” said Mario Orlandi, president of Avnet Memec — Silica. “Alliance Memory has made significant additions to its portfolio in anticipation of this demand, and with the company’s solutions in our line-up, we’ve been able to meet the market need in North America and Asia. We’re now looking forward to providing greater access to these solutions globally.”
“Avnet has been one of the most trusted names in the electronics industry for more than half a century and its global reach in the electronics supply chain is second to none,” said David Bagby, president and CEO of Alliance Memory. “The company has played a key role in raising the profile of our legacy IC solutions within the North American and Asia markets, and we can’t wait to extend that success to the EMEA region, where we expect to grow our customer base across a number of industries.”

NEW MONOLITHIC HIGH-SPEED, LOW-VOLTAGE CMOS DDR3L SDRAM WITH 8-GB DENSITY IN 96-BALL FBGA PACKAGE
We’ve recently introduced a monolithic high-speed, low-voltage CMOS double data rate 3 synchronous DRAM (DDR3L SDRAM) with an 8-Gb density in the 96-ball, 9-mm by 14-mm, lead (Pb)-free FBGA package. Featuring state-of-the art silicon provided by Micron Technology, Inc., the AS4C512M16D3L (512M x 16) offers a double data rate architecture for extremely fast transfer rates of up to 1600 Mbps/pin and clock rates of 800 MHz.
The single-die 8-Gb DDR3L SDRAM provides a reliable drop-in, pin-for-pin-compatible replacement for a number of similar solutions used in conjunction with newer-generation microprocessors for industrial, medical, networking, telecom, and aerospace applications — eliminating the need for costly redesigns and part requalification. With minimal die shrinks, this 8-Gb DDR3 is a logical choice for customers that require increased memory yet face board space constraints.
FROM THE PRESIDENT
I want to take this time to thank all our partners. After achieving a record sales number in 2014 and growing 35%, Alliance Memory was able to keep this pace up in 2015. Once again, we achieved a record sales number, growing 37% over 2014. We continue to increase our market share and to grow our business despite the difficult economy. We can attribute this to our DRAM business, which is booming, as well as the partnership we now have with Micron. This partnership has shown our leadership in the legacy memory IC market, as well as enabled us to find new customers. We look forward to continuing Alliance Memory’s growth in 2016 with the help of our wonderful customers, vendors, and sales force.
