Micron EOLs? Alliance Memory Is Ready With Alternatives

Micron has announced the end of life of another significant group of legacy memory products — and if your designs depend on them, now is the time to begin evaluating an alternative source.

Under PCN 36461, Micron is discontinuing a range of DDR2, DDR3, LPDDR2, and LPDDR3 devices, along with certain NAND MCP products. Among the affected devices are widely used DDR2 and DDR3 densities, including 512Mb and 1Gb DDR2 and 1Gb and 2Gb DDR3 products.

For many Alliance Memory customers, there is good news: we already offer alternatives for many of these affected DRAMs.

Supporting legacy memory is at the heart of what Alliance Memory does. While larger manufacturers increasingly redirect capacity toward newer memory technologies, we continue to manufacture and support the established products that remain essential to industrial, medical, automotive, communications, and other long-life applications.

In fact, we are seeing substantial new interest in these products as customers begin responding to Micron’s announcement. And because many of the affected devices are already part of the Alliance Memory portfolio — with inventory available for a number of them — customers may be able to move to an ongoing source rather than committing to a large last-time buy.

There is still time to plan. Micron has set March 1, 2027, as the last-order date and Sept. 1, 2027, as the last-ship date for the affected products. However, orders that have not shipped by Dec. 1, 2026, will become non-cancelable, non-reschedulable, and non-returnable.
