May 2015 Quarterly Newsletter

NEW HIGH-SPEED CMOS DDR SDRAMS
AS4C32M8D1Alliance Memory has just introduced a group of high-speed CMOS double data rate synchronous DRAMs with densities of 256 Mb (AS4C32M8D1), 512 Mb (AS4C64M8D1), and 1 Gb (AS4C64M16D1), in the 60-ball TFBGA and 66-pin TSOP II packages. With the addition of these new DDR1 products, we’re now offering the most extensive lineup of DDR SDRAMs in the industry, with densities from 64 Mb and 1 Gb. Just one more way we’re helping you to avoid costly redesigns by providing long-term support for end-of-life (EOL) components. More

ALLIANCE MEMORY TO OFFER LEGACY MICRON TECHNOLOGY 512M SDRAMS WITH ORIGINAL PART NUMBERS THROUGH 2017

More good news for users of the 512M SDRAMs we recently acquired from Micron Technology. Through the end of 2017, we’re going to continue to make these parts available with their original Micron part numbers. They include the 32M x 16 MT48LC32M16A2P-75: C (commercial temperature), 32M x 16 MT48LC32M16A2P-75 IT:C (industrial temperature), 64M x 8 MT48LC64M8A2P-75:C (commercial temperature), and 64M x 8 MT48LC64M8A2P-75 IT:C (industrial temperature). By continuing to have this source of Micron SDRAMs with their original part numbers, our customers won’t have to do a requalification of the parts for nearly two to three years. In addition to this commitment, Alliance has already begun its own design which will be ready in 2016. When this pin-to-pin compatible part is ready, Micron customers will be able to make an easy transition to the Alliance part leaving no gap in product availability.

ALLIANCE MEMORY ANNOUNCES ISO 9001:2008 RECERTIFICATION
isoWe’re pleased to announce that our San Carlos, California, facilities have received ISO 9001:2008 recertification. Alliance Memory’s facilities have been ISO 9001-certified since 2009. The Alliance Memory certificate (#QMS-0266b-01) was issued by Intertek, one of the most recognized and reputable ISO assessment providers in the world. Intertek granted the registration upon Alliance Memory’s successful completion of a series of quality system assessments applying the Plan – Do – Check – Act, or PDCA, cycle approach. Alliance Memory is certified for distribution and marketing activities supporting legacy memory products for the communications, computing, industrial, and consumer markets.

FROM THE PRESIDENT
DavidBagbyI was recently asked by ECN to comment on the issue of device counterfeiting. You can read my entire response on the magazine’s website. The main takeaway, however, is that counterfeiting is a concern for everyone in our industry. It’s something Alliance Memory is working to do something about by providing a trustworthy source of parts that have been discontinued by the big SRAM and DRAM manufacturers.

We’ve come to the rescue for enough customers who are desperate for parts to recognize that there is sometimes a real temptation to source parts from brokers they don’t know well. Avoiding this type of scenario is your best defense against counterfeiting. For many reasons, there’s really no practical way to be sure you’re getting the genuine item other than to stick with the suppliers you know and never make a buying decision on the basis of price only. As in other areas of life, when it comes to components you get what you pay for, and a deal that seems too good to be true will usually turn out to be exactly that.
