Micron Announces More Legacy Memory EOLs — Alliance Memory Can Help

As major memory manufacturers continue to shift their focus toward newer technologies, customers relying on established products are facing another round of end-of-life announcements. Under PCN 36461, Micron is discontinuing a range of DDR2, DDR3/L, LPDDR2, and LPDDR3 devices, along with certain NAND MCP products, with a last-order date of March 1, 2027.

Alliance Memory already offers alternatives for many of the affected DRAMs, including widely used DDR2 and DDR3/L densities, with inventory available for a number of them. If your design includes an affected Micron device, send us the part number. We’ll help identify the corresponding Alliance Memory device, discuss availability, and help you plan the transition. More Choices for LPDDR4/LPDDR4X and DDR4 Designs

Alliance Memory has doubled its LPDDR4/LPDDR4X lineup, giving you more options across a range of densities and a long-term alternative for Micron MT53 devices losing support. And our commitment to DDR4 remains just as strong, with devices available in 4Gb, 8Gb, 16Gb, and 32Gb densities. Learn more about our DDR4 and LPDDR4/LPDDR4X offerings.

eMMC Lineup Expands to 512GB

We’re expanding our eMMC portfolio with new 20GB (pSLC), 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB densities offered in industrial and automotive grades (64GB), giving customers more options for applications with growing embedded storage requirements. The new devices combine NAND flash, an eMMC controller, and flash management software in a single package for easy system integration, while extending Alliance Memory’s long-term support for higher-density eMMC products. From the President

David Bagby, President and CEO of Alliance Memory

If your products depend on DDR3/L or earlier-generation memory, I want to encourage you to start thinking about your long-term requirements now rather than waiting until the next last-time-buy deadline approaches.

We are seeing demand for these legacy products increase significantly. Our backlog and shipments are at record levels, and inquiries and new opportunities continue to grow as customers respond to recent end-of-life announcements. At the same time, available supply for some products is becoming tighter. That combination makes planning ahead increasingly important.

The broader direction of the memory market is clear. Major manufacturers are putting more of their resources behind newer-generation technologies, while capacity for established legacy products is not expanding. For customers whose industrial, medical, automotive, communications, and other long-life designs still depend on DDR3/L and earlier technologies, sourcing those products is likely to become more challenging over the next several years.

Alliance Memory remains committed to supporting these established technologies for the long term, but we also need visibility into our customers’ future requirements so we can plan supply and allocation accordingly. If you know you will need these products in 2027 and beyond, please talk with us sooner rather than later. The earlier we understand your requirements, the better positioned we will be to support them.

At the same time, we continue to strengthen our supply position in newer technologies. Our relationship with Micron is expanding into additional DDR4 and LPDDR4 products, and we are seeing increased availability on some key DDR4 devices. That is encouraging news and reflects the continuing evolution of the market.

For legacy memory, though, the message I want to leave you with is simple: the time to plan is now. If you have long-term requirements, send them to us. We’ll work with you to identify the right products and build a supply plan that supports your business for the years ahead.

Thanks for your continued support — we’re always just a call or email away.
