FROM THE PRESIDENT dbagbyHow time flies. It feels more like five years than 10 years since we started Alliance Memory back in 2006. We’ve seen a lot of changes in the memory market since we first opened our doors. Many of the big industry players have moved on, the wait time on legacy products has shrunk considerably, and the online market has really taken off. The biggest change, however, has been the increase in demand for SDRAMs. Adding these products to our line-up has been one of the biggest contributors to our success, creating the need for a larger facility to accommodate our explosive growth. We have a lot to celebrate at this important milestone in our company’s history. Ten years is a long time in the high-tech industry, and Alliance Memory has not only survived, it’s thriving. We’re grateful to our amazing team and distribution partners worldwide who have helped make this possible, and can’t wait to see what the next ten years bring. David Bagby President and CEO]]>

Click for details on the Alliance Memory quality program. FROM THE PRESIDENT DavidBagbyI was recently asked by ECN to comment on the issue of device counterfeiting. You can read my entire response on the magazine's website. The main takeaway, however, is that counterfeiting is a concern for everyone in our industry. It's something Alliance Memory is working to do something about by providing a trustworthy source of parts that have been discontinued by the big SRAM and DRAM manufacturers. We've come to the rescue for enough customers who are desperate for parts to recognize that there is sometimes a real temptation to source parts from brokers they don't know well. Avoiding this type of scenario is your best defense against counterfeiting. For many reasons, there's really no practical way to be sure you're getting the genuine item other than to stick with the suppliers you know and never make a buying decision on the basis of price only. As in other areas of life, when it comes to components you get what you pay for, and a deal that seems too good to be true will usually turn out to be exactly that. That was big news, but from our point of view the bigger story is how our product portfolio has evolved to include more and more DRAM products — including DDR1, DDR2, DDR3, and low-power mobile DRAM ICs. The fact is that our DRAM business has grown by an order of magnitude just in the past year. Not bad for a company that was conceived not so long ago as a supplier exclusively of legacy SRAM memory ICs. But change is the nature of our business, and today's bleeding edge memory technology becomes tomorrow's legacy technology at an ever faster pace. What doesn't change is the need for a reliable source of the memory chips you need as a manufacturer, and this is one area where Alliance Memory has worked particularly hard to differentiate ourselves from the competition. Fortunately we've had some wonderful partners in this effort. We are very grateful in particular to Digi-Key and Mouser for all they've done to get the word out about our DRAM product line and to get these new parts qualified by an ever larger number of customers. Thanks to you, we've had a great 2014 and we're looking forward to an even better 2015. All of us at Alliance Memory send you our best wishes for a joyous holiday season and a happy and successful new year. QUARTERLY CUSTOMER PROFILE: PLEXUS plexis.png The Company A provider of electronic product manufacturing services, Plexus uses a unique Product Realization service model to transform its customers' concepts into branded products and deliver them to target markets. Tailoring innovative solutions that integrate product conceptualization, design, commercialization, manufacturing, fulfillment and sustaining services, the company serves a worldwide base of customers delivering turnkey solutions that make electronic products a success. The Challenge Plexus customers come from most major industries using electronics, including networking and communications, healthcare/life sciences, test and measurement, control automation, energy and energy management, point-of-sale systems, defense, security, and aerospace. Most of these in turn require memory ICs for new and existing designs, so having reliable sources of legacy products such as those manufactured by Alliance Memory is key to the Plexus business model. The Customer "We use products from Alliance Memory pretty much across all of our market segments — and all of them need both SRAMs and DRAMs," says Todd Donnermeyer, Global Commodity Manager at Plexus. "Not only does Alliance Memory provide us with an alternate source from a cost reduction standpoint, they excel in quality and service. They understand the importance of keeping key components available and have done well in continuing to add to their product portfolio as other manufacturers EOL various products. In my experience they've been very easy to work with and ready to go above and beyond." FROM THE PRESIDENT dbagbyIf it seems to you that end-of-life (EOL) notices for memory chips are becoming more common, you're not just imagining things. Not only are more memory chips being EOL'd in terms of absolute numbers, it's happening at an earlier point in the component life cycle. There are a number of reasons for this. One is the pace of innovation in consumer electronics, which is moving faster than ever. Another driver is the imperative to reduce costs — and fill up fab capacity — with die shrinks. Of course, it's understandable that consumers want the newest and fastest gadgets, and that companies who have invested in new fabs don't want them to sit empty. But there's a whole world of electronic products out there, from ATMs to industrial control systems to cash registers, for which a relatively brief component life cycle is never going to make any sense. That's why Alliance Memory remains firm in our commitment to providing our customers with memory ICs that help them avoid costly redesigns. Meanwhile we're continually expanding the categories of memory ICs that we offer. If your design needs to last 10 years instead of 10 months, then you've come to the right place. FROM THE PRESIDENT dbagbyI find myself looking back on 2013 with a sense of pride, accomplishment and gratitude. 2013 was a year of building. It was also a year in which our product mix diversified in a notable way. Seven years ago we expected Alliance Memory would focus for a long time to come on legacy SRAM products only. Yet as we start 2014 we note a growing proportion of our business is in DRAMs and with a product range that now includes double data rate synchronous DRAMs (SDRAM, DDR1, DDR2, and soon DDR3) with densities from 64M to 4GB. As a company our revenues grew 25% in 2013 over 2012 and we fully expect our revenue to grow again by this amount in 2014. We continue to gain market share and be a recognized leader in legacy memory solutions. We have many exciting things planned for 2014 — including exhibits at the Electronica shows in Shanghai in March and Munich in November. We look forward to meeting with you and sharing more good things throughout the year. FINAL WORD: FROM THE PRESIDENT ebnSomdbagbye of you may have read the recent columns by Kim Bagby in EBN magazine* highlighting the start-up process for Alliance Memory. What a lot of memories these bring back. The last seven years in this business have seen many challenges as well as positive changes. It has been an interesting time for start-ups. While we were working on establishing legacy product lines to keep customers in production, there were many companies who were working toward bringing new technologies to market. Along the way, plans for some companies in our industry were interrupted by downturns in the market due to economic conditions around the world and disasters such as the tsunami in Japan. This makes us all the more grateful to have succeeded in filling a need for our customers. While many things have evolved at Alliance Memory, one thing that has not changed is putting our customers and the distributors they rely on first. We enjoy meeting you. We enjoy engaging with you for new business opportunities, and we thrive on finding creative ways to support you. Kim's articles in EBN are one more welcome reminder of all the things that make this business meaningful for us. —David Bagby *“The Startup Experience: Getting Off the Ground,” EBN, 5/8/2013 “The Startup Experience: Daily Challenges, Surprises,” EBN, 5/16/2013 — David Bagby, President and CEO ]]> 775 0 0 0 January 2014 Quarterly Newsletter]]> <![CDATA[April 2013 Quarterly Newsletter]]> https://www.alliancememory.com/april-2013-quarterly-newsletter/ Sun, 21 Apr 2013 22:50:43 +0000 https://www.alliancememory.com/?p=778 NEW HIGH-SPEED CMOS SYNCHRONOUS DRAMS WITH 128-MB AND 256-MB DENSITIES IN 54-BALL TFBGA PACKAGE AS4C8M16S Alliance Memory is extending its 128M and 256M lines of high-speed CMOS synchronous DRAMs (SDRAM) with new devices in a 54-ball 8 mm by 8 mm by 1.2 mm TFBGA package. The company's activities include the sale, manufacture, installation, and maintenance of self-service transaction systems (such as ATMs), retail banking equipment, lottery terminals, postal terminals, software, and services for global financial and commercial markets. The company's portfolio covers every key step in the process of change affecting business systems — from advice on changes toexisting IT processes and the provision of innovative software and systems through to their adaptation and integration. CHALLENGE / SOLUTION Wincor Nixdorf supplies specialized equipment to financial institutions around the world. For systems such as a printer used in back-office banking applications, a reliable source of components is essential to providing customers with the solutions they need, when they need them, at competitive prices. Wincor Nixdorf turned to Alliance Memory when its long-time supplier of legacy memory ICs — a well-known Korean multinational — was unable to improve on normal lead times of four months, or to help Wincor Nixdorf meet its cost targets. This prompted the company to seek out another memory IC manufacturer — and it found Alliance Memory. FROM THE CUSTOMER "We have been an Alliance Memory customer now for four years," said Linda Lee, commodity manager at Wincor Nixdorf. "They are a great source for the legacy memory ICs we need for our printer application. Not only does Alliance Memory supply the technical support we need, they hold the line on prices, which helps us meet our cost target goals. We're very satisfied with them indeed."]]> 796 0 0 0 <![CDATA[March 2012 Quarterly Newsletter]]> https://www.alliancememory.com/march-2012-quarterly-newsletter/ Fri, 23 Mar 2012 19:03:03 +0000 https://www.alliancememory.com/?p=798 NEW CMOS SYNCHRONOUS DRAMS (SDRAM) RATED FOR THE INDUSTRIAL TEMPERATURE RANGE SDRAMWe're adding to our SDRAM family with three new devices rated for the industrial temperature range of –40°C to +85°C. Samples and production quantities of the new SDRs are available now with lead times of six to eight weeks. STAYING PROACTIVE IN EUROPE by Sue Macedo SueMacedo Europe seems to have generated more than its share of bad news lately, from the Eurozone debt crisis to last October's massive earthquake in Eastern Turkey. Despite the doom and gloom, Alliance Memory continues to buck the trend of weak performance, seeing three years of consistent growth, with 2011 versus 2010 up by 20%. I believe this primarily is due to the fact that Alliance Memory is a flexible supplier to our key distribution channel partners. By proactively working closely together and understanding and sharing some of the pain of these challenging times, we have successfully manoeuvred our way through the quagmire. Proactivity is key. We support buffer stock programmes, offer a quick sample turnaround, and have invested heavily in inventory and enabling short lead times. All of this benefits the distributor's process of asset and inventory planning, and ultimately benefits the customer and prevents production line-down situations. Of course there will always be the issue of Euro/GBP against the USD$ exchange rates, as this impacts pricing back down the supply chain. And everyone in our industry faces the same necessity to maximize both revenues and margins. The key element here is the customer. If the supply chain can support the end customer in these lean times, which is crucial to their survival, hopefully this will bode well in the future when in recovery and heading back into the land of plenty. Alliance Memory has been selective with our product portfolio. Being a legacy supplier, we want to continue to support customers in the communications, computing, industrial and consumer markets. All our products will continue to be produced 10, 15, 20 years hence, therefore saving the customer the need to do costly redesigns, and saving precious time and money. Germany is still the powerhouse in Europe, with its strength in automotive and industrial electronics market, with France, UK second and third respectively, closely followed by an emerging Eastern Europe, with many CEMs setting up factories in this region for product design, test, manufacturing, and supply chain solutions for the networking/communications, medical, industrial and defense industries. France continues with telecommunications as its biggest industry, along with aerospace and defense. The UK has seen a significant decline in manufacturing, but still has R&D companies developing products for the medical, automotive, military and aerospace industries. For Alliance Memory, Europe represents 33% of our global business. We will continue to work closely with our pan European partners, to listen and proactively support their needs, to offer well-designed legacy products, competitive pricing, excellent lead times, and first class service and support. And we look forward to being a resource for Europe over the long-term, whatever the news of the moment happens to be. QUARTERLY CUSTOMER PROFILE: SATEL THE COMPANY satelSatel was founded in 1990 to design and product electronic alarm system devices, including control panels, sirens, detectors, monitoring stations, wireless systems, radio controllers, power supplies and related accessories. Satel has 250 employees, with revenues $28 million in 2010. Satel products are sold worldwide through a network of independent distributors. CHALLENGE / SOLUTION At Satel, quality is paramount. Every product must meet a vast number of requirements, from design through prototyping and production, as well as undergoing comprehensive testing. Many of Satel's 200 products use legacy memory ICs. Given the company's focus on quality, and the safety-critical nature of the applications it addresses, Satel sources components only from reliable and approved suppliers. Availability of the appropriate memory ICs not only impacts quality, but also the Satel's ability to hold the line on costs. Since 2009, Alliance Memory has been among the component manufacturers that Satel depends on, supplying the company with low-power SRAM ICs with densities of 64k, 256k, 1M, and 4M. FROM THE CUSTOMER "Alliance Memory passed all the tests we use to qualify a supplier's reliability," says Tomasz Kaminski, Vice Director of Purchasing at Satel. "They have supported us on all levels, including on-time delivery, friendly customer service, and meeting our price targets. This is a partnership that benefits both companies, and we look forward to continuing to work with Alliance Memory." FINAL WORD: FROM THE PRESIDENT As the electronics industry continues its gradual recovery, customers are still conservative about placing orders, often waiting until the last minute to source the components they need. For some memory IC manufacturers this could be a problem. For Alliance Memory, it's a big plus, since our strategy has always been to carry inventory. Thus we can turn around these orders with very short lead times — ranging from a few hours to a couple of days. Because of our ability to react to market conditions like the ones we're in now, Alliance Memory will enjoy better than 50% growth this quarter over Q4 2011. What's our secret? Simply looking at market conditions and trying to anticipate what will best meet our customer needs. In this case we hit the mark by building inventory in the last half of 2011, expecting this type of lead-in to 2012. dbagby We expect good things this year and look forward to successfully meeting the challenges ahead as the world economy continues to recover. —David Bagby, President and CEO]]> 798 0 0 0 <![CDATA[December 2011 Quarterly Newsletter]]> https://www.alliancememory.com/december-2011-quarterly-newsletter/ Fri, 23 Dec 2011 19:13:30 +0000 https://www.alliancememory.com/?p=800 ALLIANCE MEMORY ANNOUNCES DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT WITH AVNET MEMEC AVNetLogoAlliance Memory, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has signed an agreement with Avnet Memec, one of the world's largest distributors of electronic components. QUARTERLY CUSTOMER PROFILE: DINEMA ELECTRONICS THE COMPANY dinemalogoDinema Electronics was founded in 1971 to supply electronic solutions to the textile industry. In 1985, it joined the Lonati Group, which has been manufacturing knitting machines for the textile industry since 1946. Since 1990, Dinema has been addressing a broader market outside the Lonati Group with solutions for medical, automotive, industrial, IT, and consumer applications. The company employs 160 persons and had revenues of about $70 million in 2010. CHALLENGE / SOLUTION Dinema formerly sourced its memory components from suppliers in Japan, then in Korea, then in the United States. But eventually each of its suppliers end-of-lifed the low-power SRAMs that are critical for the circuits it builds for textile machines. Then two years ago, Dinema found Alliance Memory. Since then, Dimena has been purchasing several different low-power SRAMs from Alliance Memory in 256k, 1M, and 8M densities. FROM THE CUSTOMER "One of our major customers is our owner, the Lonati Group, which manufactures automated knitting machines that are used all over the world and particularly in China," says Ivano Bertanza, purchasing manager at Dinema. "For more than 20 years, we've been supplying circuit boards, including SRAMs, for this application, and it's critical that we have a reliable source for these components. That is one reason we are very pleased to have found Alliance Memory just as it was becoming difficult to find a reliable supplier for these legacy SRAMs. Ever since, we've had excellent customer service support, quality, and responsiveness. I would be happy to recommend Alliance to any customer that requires these older SRAMs." FINAL WORD: FROM THE PRESIDENT dbagbyThe world economy continues to pose challenges for everyone. As a fabless manufacturer we watch very closely how the global financial situation could potentially affect any one of our suppliers. Having key partners in several parts of the world makes this a constant concern. I've recently travelled through Europe and Asia visiting with our major distributors and our manufacturing partners. I'm confident that the quality of the suppliers and distributors we are partnered with will continue to be a positive for Alliance Memory. While there are financial concerns worldwide I believe our partners are not specifically affected and therefore Alliance Memory can continue to confidently provide first class products and quality support to our customers. We thank our customers and partners for our success in 2011 as we achieved over 20% growth. We look forward to continuing to serve your needs and contribute to your success in 2012.

<![CDATA[October 2017 Quarterly Newsletter]]> https://www.alliancememory.com/october-2017-quarterly-newsletter/ Tue, 17 Oct 2017 12:17:34 +0000 https://www.alliancememory.com/?p=2533 THINK YOU KNOW ALLIANCE MEMORY? A Q&A WITH DAVID BAGBY, PRESIDENT AND CEO Q: What are Alliance Memory's best-selling products right now? You might be surprised to know how well we’re doing with DDR3 products, since historically we have always supported the legacy market and left these devices for the big suppliers. But with today’s shortage in the DRAM market and our great inventory position, we’re enjoying great success with our DDR3s for new designs. In fact, we’ve always been a leader in SDRAMs, but the present market shortage is giving us a great opportunity to be introduced to an entirely new customer base. Q: Lead times for DRAMs are up to three months or more at the major suppliers. How does Alliance Memory compare? We pride ourselves on the high inventory levels we maintain. As a chip supplier in a commodity memory market, you need a competitive price as well as inventory, and Alliance Memory has both. Not only do we have many months of buffer stock finished goods inventory, we also carry months if not years of wafer supply. Q: Other suppliers have raised their prices significantly in recent weeks. What about Alliance Memory? Price fluctuations are always going to happen in a commodity memory market. The big question is how you administer them. I’ve heard of some suppliers actually changing prices on an order before it ships, but that is certainly not Alliance Memory’s style. If we commit to an order we will support it. Our goal is to provide a stable supply with competitive pricing. When we do get wafer price increases, we give our customers plenty of notice of this change. Q: During allocation, how does Alliance Memory’s strategy compare to the competition? In times like this we see our competition making it their priority to support their big customers first. Our strategy is different. Our priority is to reward the customers that have supported us over the years, whether they’re big companies or not. If a customer has always bought from us then they will for sure be on the top of our support list. Fortunately we haven't had to deal with an allocation at Alliance Memory given our stock situation.
NEW DIE VERSION FOR 2GB AND 4GB DDR3 AND DDR3L SDRAMS To address the memory market’s shortage of high-speed CMOS DDR3 and low-voltage DDR3L SDRAMs, Alliance Memory has announced a new die revision (B die) for its 2Gb and 4Gb devices in the 96-ball FBGA package. With a new B die version, we now have two sources for our 2Gb and 4Gb parts’ silicon. This means our customers can be more confident than ever in our ability to deliver these devices despite shortages and price increases in the memory market. Learn more
NEW DDR3 AND DDR3L SDRAMS WITH 512MB X8 AND X16 DEVICES IN 78-BALL AND 96-BALL FBGA PACKAGES Very few suppliers offer 512Mb DDR3 and DDR3L SDRAMs, so we are excited to add them to our broad lineup, which also includes hard-to-find 8Gb devices. Furthermore, our new DDR3 and DDR3L SDRAMs are offered in the same FBGA packages as devices with densities from 512Mb to 8Gb, allowing our customers to easily switch if they require less memory. FROM THE PRESIDENT Late last year, we announced the 1000th design registration in a program we started in 2016 to "give back" to distributors who specify Alliance Memory products in their bills of materials. This is actually a huge milestone for us. It shows that top distributors are recognizing us as a key partner. It reflects our very robust sales throughout 2017. In fact we're continuing to add new design registrations at a rate of more than 100 per month. I'm mindful every day of how our channel partners have contributed to our growth, and our design registration program helps us to reward them in several ways. For example, by giving us an early indicator of which of our products are most popular, the program allows us to forecast demand better and plan further ahead to order wafers and finished goods. It takes a distributor considerable time and effort to complete a registration submission, but our goal is to make that process pay off, not just with preferential pricing but also by helping us both to serve our customers better. Alliance Memory has worked very hard to build our global distribution network and to be one of the manufacturers that our distributors value as a trusted partner. The success of our design registration program shows that this strategy is working, and that we're succeeding in our goal of becoming a better partner for our distributors and a better resource for the end customer. David Bagby President and CEO]]>

FROM THE PRESIDENT There’s been a lot of gloom and doom in our industry lately. Some of our peer companies are reporting really horrible numbers for last month. Sometimes gloom can be contagious, so we just want you to know that Alliance Memory had its best month ever in January 2019. Perhaps this is just because we’re fortunate to have really strong customers. But we like to think we’re answering a market need and doing so effectively by choosing the right mix of products, supporting customers in every way we can, and working hard to anticipate what the market’s needs will be in the future. What do you think? Drop me a line at david@alliancememory.com. David Bagby President and CEO]]>

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT For many in the industry 2019 has been something of a challenge, with a slow global economic climate exacerbated by the USA/China tariff trade war, Brexit, and general geo-political unrest in many major countries worldwide. At Alliance Memory, as both a legacy and new technology supplier, we tend to take challenging years in our stride. As a privately held fabless company, we don’t live from quarter to quarter like many of our competitors. We invest heavily into producing products, and holding more finished good stock in our warehouses, so we can maintain consistent pricing and shorter lead times over longer periods. We do this with our customers in mind, knowing that this helps them with project budget planning and dependable production support. At the same time, we re-invest back into our company to further develop and expand our product portfolio. For us, 2019 was actually a great year, as we continued to broaden our offering of well-designed and competitively priced products and to grow our organization in ways that will directly benefit our customers. We’re bringing that positive outlook to our planning for 2020, during which you’ll see us introduce some new categories of products while extending the product lines that are already coming to the rescue for so many customers. We would like to thank our customers, our distributors and partners for their support of Alliance Memory and wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year. David Bagby President and CEO]]>

At Alliance Memory we have responded to the latest developments and have introduced various measures to protect our customers, partners, and colleagues. Without ignoring the challenges ahead, we’re focused on continuing to support our customers, and finding many reasons for optimism about the future:
 • As of today, continuation of our production is secured based on sufficient stock and deliveries. Our U.S. headquarters colleagues work in two teams, which work either in the morning or in the afternoon, avoiding personal contact. Product is being shipped to our customers, including manufacturers of critical medical equipment, as normal.
 • Our office in Taiwan is operating normally, as are our Taiwan-based test and assembly partners.
 • In all other departments, most colleagues work from their home offices, and the colleagues remaining in our brick-and-mortar offices also work in teams and have enough space to practice social distancing.
 • We’re expecting to close out this month as our best March ever!
 • Our global sales offices are also operational, either by working in teams and shifts or from home office. Customer consulting and support are available as usual.
We are very proud to be part of an industry that has responded calmly and courageously to the COVID-19 challenge by continuing to do its vital work. We appreciate everything our distributors and customers are doing to ensure the continued delivery of products around the globe. Thank you very much for your understanding and stay healthy in these difficult times! David Bagby President and CEO

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT It’s hard to believe that 2021 is just about in the books, and what a year it’s been for Alliance Memory. On the one hand, our industry experienced an extremely challenging 12 months due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic. But while IC memory shortages have become the norm, we’ve managed to thrive in the face of adversity. In fact, compared to 2020, we’ve doubled our revenue. And as we stand on the brink of 2022, we can’t help but feel optimistic about the year ahead. While the pandemic remains unpredictable, there is a sense that the worst is behind us. Our employees are safe, and our sights are firmly fixed on the future, where key indicators point to continued growth. These include a strong backlog heading into the new year; multiple foundry partners with the capacity required to maintain our growth and address supply issues; and a number of new products in the pipeline. Furthermore, our inventory continues to increase, which allows us to keep lead times short for our customers. And if that’s not enough, we’ll also be striving to increase our workflow efficiency by upgrading the systems used across our organization. So, the future certainly looks bright for Alliance Memory, and for the industry as a whole. We’re excited to see the progress that will be made in areas like IoT, 5G, and AI in the coming year, and how our solutions will contribute to the evolution of these technologies. Thanks, as always, for your support. Stay safe and have a happy new year! David Bagby President and CEO]]>

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT At the end of last year, we were feeling a lot of optimism about 2022, and judging by what we’ve seen so far it looks like this is going to be another stellar year. We had a record January for sales, and I believe we’re going to have a record Q1. Our planned strategy to increase our inventory is succeeding, even though we continue to have pockets of individual issues around certain package types. The big picture, however, is that we’re reducing lead times for our customers, and we’re continuing to pick up market share. From Europe to the U.S. to Asia, we’re seeing good strength in all our markets. The expansion of our facilities in Taiwan continues to pay dividends. The larger space is allowing us to handle higher volumes of inventory for regional customers and thus reduce their lead times. Our Taiwan strategy is just one of several initiatives we’ve undertaken to help us better serve you. Later this year we’ll be moving into a cloud-based software program that will help us better manage our customers, our inventory, and other aspects of our business. I’m looking forward to sharing more about it with you in the coming months. For now, I hope your year is off to a great start and I thank you, as always, for your support. Stay safe! David Bagby President and CEO]]>

Team Profile: Ted Kasahara Ted joined Alliance Memory in 2014 as Country Manager, Japan. Located in Tokyo, he is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with key distributors throughout the country, while creating sales promotions to attract new customers. Previously, he served in a variety of roles in the electronics manufacturing industry. In his free time, Ted enjoys watching sports, including sumo wrestling, baseball, and rugby.
Letter From the President As Q3 2022 comes to a close, the best thing that can be said about current market conditions is that they’re unsettled. The Ukraine war, various material and labor shortages, and general uncertainty about the economy are all factors making the market nervous. Even so, there is plenty of good news to report for Alliance Memory. We had our best month ever in June, and our best POS month ever for a leading distributor in July. And we are gaining even more market share for legacy products as suppliers continue to EOL devices like SRAMs, SDRAMs, and DDR1 and DDR2 SDRAMs. Even DDR3 SDRAMs are becoming legacy devices, and the uncertainty of their supply has resulted in many customers qualifying Alliance solutions into their designs. Furthermore, new products like DDR4 SDRAMs and eMMCs are adding to our ever-growing portfolio of memory solutions, and we will soon be introducing even more Flash products. Our inventory and competitive pricing continue to carry us through this current cyclical market, and as always, we’re there to support our customers’ requirements. What are your thoughts? Please feel free to share them with me at alliancememory@redpinesgroup.com. Best regards and thanks for your support. David Bagby President and CEO]]>

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT The SRAM market in particular is very interesting for us right now. New customers are coming to us with reports of long lead times and not getting deliveries from our competitors. (If this sounds familiar and we haven’t talked yet, please just reply to this E-mail to start the conversation.) We’re actively shipping them the SRAM product they need and looking to support them as long as needed with our good wafer supply backup. I won’t be surprised, in fact, if Q1 2023 turns out to be our best quarter for SRAMs ever. The DRAM market presents a mixed picture right now. But overall, we're very positive moving forward in 2023. The flash market remains new and exciting for us, and we’re coming out with new products all the time. Even though we’re still seeing some inventory corrections, we’re beginning the year with a solid customer base, great distribution partners, and a plentiful inventory both in wafers as well as finished goods. We’re seeing every reason to be positive about the rest of 2023. What about you? Stay safe and thanks as always for your support. David Bagby President and CEO]]>

MICRON EOL DEVICES: GET YOUR PART NUMBERS BEFORE THEY’RE GONE For several years, we’ve been supporting our customers by stocking a wide range of EOL 8G DDR3L SDRAMs and NOR Flash devices from Micron Technology. The good news is that we still have a lot of these components in stock on a first come, first served basis — and continue to add part numbers. But once a particular part number is gone, it’s gone. To make sure you don’t come up short further down the road, the time to load up on the devices you’ll need is now.
NEW 16GB AND 32GB LPDDR4X SDRAMS We’ve expanded our offering of high-speed CMOS mobile low-power SDRAMs with new 16Gb and 32Gb LPDDR4X devices that combine low power ratings with increased clock speeds and data rates in the 200-ball FBGA package. Learn more . . .
NEW TEAM MEMBER: ZVI BARAK We’re delighted to announce the appointment of Zvi Barak as our company’s sales director for EMEA. Zvi joins us from Future Electronics, where he served in a number of capacities over the last 18 years, including 10 years as Future’s country manager for Israel. Zvi concluded his time with Future as regional technical director for Eastern Europe. Previously, he held the roles of Israel country manager for Cypress Semiconductor and ASIC designer for Israel Aerospace Industries. You can reach Zvi at zvi@alliancememory.com.
OPERATIONS: ISO 9001:2015 UPDATE Our headquarters facilities in Kirkland, Washington were recently recertified for ISO 9001:2015. Alliance Memory’s facilities, beginning with our former headquarters in the San Francisco Bay Area, have been ISO 9001-certified since 2009. You can download the Certificate of Registration here.
LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT I’ve been holding off for several months on making any statements about the market, since the signals coming from my usual sources of information were too ambiguous to read. About a month ago, however, we started to hear rumblings of price increases from major DRAM suppliers, and now that trend is starting to play out, with big companies going to their customers and saying price increases are on the way. Now people are wondering what the increases are going to be and for which products, and how will lead times be affected. Most of our customers still have adequate inventory, but some of the larger ones are already asking us for upsides on certain products. There are even pockets of shortages here and there. The DDR3 last time buy announcement from Samsung in April is also having its effect. All this is by way of a reminder that Alliance Memory has a long track record of being the guy that keeps prices flat and delivers consistent support when others don’t. With everything that’s coming, and especially if you’re a user of DDR3s, right now would be a good time to ask us about sourcing those products for you and locking in the price before ASPs start to rise. Please feel free at any time to reach out to me directly, and thank you as always for your support. David Bagby President and CEO
THE LAST WORD Embedded World went by in a flash, and our marcom team did a great job in capturing the positive energy at the show in this short video, which also goes by like a flash, and in which you’ll see some familiar (as well as new) faces. ]]>

Micron EOL Devices: Get Your Part Numbers Before They're Gone For several years, we’ve been supporting our customers by stocking a wide range of EOL 8G DDR3L SDRAMs and NOR Flash devices from Micron Technology. The good news is that we still have a lot of these components in stock on a first come, first served basis — and continue to add part numbers. But once a particular part number is gone, it’s gone. To make sure you don’t come up short further down the road, the time to load up on the devices you’ll need is now. Letter From the President

When we founded Alliance Memory, our mission was to provide a reliable source of SRAMs that were about to be discontinued by their original manufacturer. Nearly twenty years later, our product lineup has expanded to include DRAMs, Flash, and eMMCs, but customers still need SRAMs and we’re proud to serve them with a portfolio of several types of SRAM solutions. This is especially true right now as companies like ISSI, Cypress and GSI are announcing a large number of EOL items. In fact GSI is eliminating all its fast asynchronous SRAMs.

If SRAMs are among the components you’re counting on to keep production online, rest assured that Alliance memory is continuing to offer a full breadth of product and long-term support of SRAMs, regardless of what anyone else is doing. Meanwhile, for a take on today’s market for memory ICs in general, please have a look at this recent story by Barb Jorgensen for which I contributed some thoughts about the market and where it’s going.

Thanks as always for your continued support.

David Bagby President and CEO
